Meet Deborah (Dheva) Liebman, MA, LPC

Owner of Here Within Counseling, PLLC and Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas.

I am Psychotherapist and Licensed Professional Counselor in Austin, Texas. I have a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University and have been in practice since 2017. My job roles have always been in the field of human and social services, and have included providing counseling, case management and intake coordination for both non-profits and private wellness clinics, as well as teaching and caregiving for both children and the elderly. I also have an extensive background in yoga, traditional, contemplative and expressive dance, as well as somatic inquiry.

In our work together, my intent is to assist you in becoming metaphorically bigger than your challenges so that you can gain insights and new perspectives about them. When our stories are revealed and we experience a felt sense of being seen, heard and understood, we are granted the opportunity to make a deeper connection with ourselves and to grow our capacity for self-compassion. With more self-understanding, we are then able to make more clear and informed decisions, tolerate life's ups and downs better, as well as improve the health of our relationships.

My approach is psychodynamic, relational, and depth-oriented.

What that means is, I get very curious about your early experiences and relationships, and how these may be influencing your current conscious and unconscious mental, emotional and behavioral habits.

It also means I will support you in discovering what has been hidden from your consciousness or what has been too scary to make contact with, as well as get to the underlying roots of your emotional distress, limiting beliefs and problematic behaviors.

I utilize and integrate various therapeutic tools in my practice based on the individual needs of my clients. While we will do plenty of what is known as “talk therapy”, I may at times invite you to pay attention to your body and incorporate practices to help you tend to unprocessed psychological pain and confront existential concerns.
